The "D" Date

Dad and I had a "delightful" weekend!
We went on our "D" date and had so much fun!

On Saturday we got in our car with our "Dove" chocolates and headed to "Driggs" to go snowshoeing.

After looking online, we found a Nordic Track in Driggs we were going to try.  But when we got there, we discovered it was just a groomed trail in a field.  It would be great for cross country skiing.  But we weren't too excited about snowshoeing on it.  We wanted to be in the mountains.  So with a little help from a sporting goods store, we found a trail close by in the Teton Canyon in Alta, Wyoming.  It was perfect--and we loved it!
We went "dashing" through the snow!

We were trying to get a picture of us with the stream behind us. . .
but our heads are in the way!

So here's a picture of only the stream.  It was beautiful!

A "Dove" chocolate break!

After snowshoeing, we each had a "dollar" to go buy a "donut."

We found a place in Driggs called The Cocoa Grove.
So we went in to get hot chocolate and a donut.

Unfortunately, they didn't have donuts.  So we settled for a muffin.

We stopped at a tourism place and saw several advertisements for an old fashioned corner "drug" store--so we had to go check it out.  (We were in and out in about two minutes!)

On the way back home we stopped at a "diner" for "dinner" in St. Anthony.  So many people have told us about a place called Chiz that is closing in March--and said we have to try it.  Unfortunately, the diner was closed for about three hours . . . and we didn't want to wait around.  So we improvised!

Since our car was soooooo "dirty," we drove back to Rexburg and washed it!

Then we went to "Dairy Queen," ordered "dinner" and brought it home to eat.

Then we had a relaxing evening watching a "DVD" while eating "Dots."
When we created our bucket list a few weeks ago, one of the things we wanted to do was watch the top 100 movies of all time.  One of the movies on the list was this movie made in 1934 called It Happened One Night with Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert.

Dad and I really enjoyed this day.  When we first moved to Rexburg, we were able to get away quite a bit and explore different parts of Idaho.  But we haven't been able to get outside and do anything like that for quite awhile.  It was so nice to get away, do something outside, and just take our time doing whatever we wanted.  Best. "Day." Ever.

  1. Too bad it wasn't your "I" date, you sure did a lot of improvising. ;-) Kudos!
