Dallin's Pictures - Feb 22

The hat and mask are from Huanuco, from one of the new families that we met.  They use it in a dance from there.

The "D" Date

Dad and I had a "delightful" weekend!
We went on our "D" date and had so much fun!

On Saturday we got in our car with our "Dove" chocolates and headed to "Driggs" to go snowshoeing.

After looking online, we found a Nordic Track in Driggs we were going to try.  But when we got there, we discovered it was just a groomed trail in a field.  It would be great for cross country skiing.  But we weren't too excited about snowshoeing on it.  We wanted to be in the mountains.  So with a little help from a sporting goods store, we found a trail close by in the Teton Canyon in Alta, Wyoming.  It was perfect--and we loved it!
We went "dashing" through the snow!

We were trying to get a picture of us with the stream behind us. . .
but our heads are in the way!

So here's a picture of only the stream.  It was beautiful!

A "Dove" chocolate break!

After snowshoeing, we each had a "dollar" to go buy a "donut."

We found a place in Driggs called The Cocoa Grove.
So we went in to get hot chocolate and a donut.

Unfortunately, they didn't have donuts.  So we settled for a muffin.

We stopped at a tourism place and saw several advertisements for an old fashioned corner "drug" store--so we had to go check it out.  (We were in and out in about two minutes!)

On the way back home we stopped at a "diner" for "dinner" in St. Anthony.  So many people have told us about a place called Chiz that is closing in March--and said we have to try it.  Unfortunately, the diner was closed for about three hours . . . and we didn't want to wait around.  So we improvised!

Since our car was soooooo "dirty," we drove back to Rexburg and washed it!

Then we went to "Dairy Queen," ordered "dinner" and brought it home to eat.

Then we had a relaxing evening watching a "DVD" while eating "Dots."
When we created our bucket list a few weeks ago, one of the things we wanted to do was watch the top 100 movies of all time.  One of the movies on the list was this movie made in 1934 called It Happened One Night with Clark Gable and Claudette Colbert.

Dad and I really enjoyed this day.  When we first moved to Rexburg, we were able to get away quite a bit and explore different parts of Idaho.  But we haven't been able to get outside and do anything like that for quite awhile.  It was so nice to get away, do something outside, and just take our time doing whatever we wanted.  Best. "Day." Ever.

Valentine's Weekend Getaway

We had a fabulous Valentine's/President's Day weekend!
We drove down to Utah on Friday evening.

Saturday morning we did some furniture shopping.
It was overwhelming and tiring!

But we got to go to Elizabeth's baby shower in the afternoon!

The Applegate clan--
Jayna, Elizabeth, Aimee, Whitney, Laura, Carole, and Jenni.

Elizabeth and her sister, Natalie.

Jayna and baby Elizabeth.

The Page clan--
Jayna, Karla, Alisa, Gladys, Jeannette, and Megan.

Carole, Kathy, Jayna, and Elizabeth.

While the girls were at the shower, the boys got In-N-Out burgers and watched basketball.  Grandpa was pretty excited about his hamburger!  Grandma spoiled them and made a seven layer dip and cheeseball, too.

After the shower we joined them.

Then Elizabeth showed us all the fun things she got for baby girl Page!

A week earlier, Josh told Dad that Artic Circle had Dunford Donut shakes!
So we made a shake run that night!  Yum!

Sunday morning we relaxed then went to church with Grandma and Grandpa.
Grandma arranged for Josh to play the piano in sacrament meeting.  He played his version of I Stand All Amazed.  So many people came up to him and told him how wonderful it was.  One lady wanted him to write down the name of the person who arranged it and asked where she could find it.  Pa, ha!

After church we had our traditional heart-shaped pizza dinner!
And, of course, Sunday chocolates--Valentine's style.

Then we played Oh Heck.  Grandma said she didn't remember how to play--then proceeded to win the first round!

With four cards left, Joseph predicted he would win all four tricks.

Then Grandma proceeded to win ALL four!

Last round!

Monday morning we went back to the furniture store to try to finalize some purchases.

Dad wants this table and chairs to go behind the couch downstairs.
He plans on putting all his food on the table--making eating access easy.

Mom and Elizabeth got outvoted on this chair.

When we got to the store--they had donuts outside for people waiting in line.  We didn't get any.  But when Josh and Elizabeth arrived, they wanted one.  At this point they had taken the donuts inside--but we couldn't find them.  Josh looked all over!  And every time a sales person asked us if we needed help, Josh would say, "Yes. Where are the donuts?"  No one could find them!  Finally, at one point, Mom had an idea.  She guided everyone behind closed doors and down hallways . . . and she found them!  Mom was the hero of the day.

Success!

Then we headed down to Provo for an early lunch with Grant and Gladys at Mooyahs.

Our plan was to go to the Provo City Temple open house after that--but we didn't have tickets and there was a three-hour wait in the stand-by line.  Darn!

Josh and Elizabeth left to meet up with friends in Salt Lake. We took Joseph and Jayna to a furniture store in Provo to show them some of the things we looked at.  Then we decided to head home.  We stopped to pick up our stuff at the Applegates--then headed out.

Funny thing--when we got to Ogden, we found Josh and Elizabeth on the freeway!  We ended up stopping together to gas up.

We stopped in Pocatello to drop off a cradle at Josh and Elizabeth's.
We stopped in Idaho Falls for dinner.
And then it was back to home sweet home.

A Day in the Life

A Day in the Life of the Pages

Brian:  I'm helping serve food at an Etiquette Dinner for the youth in our ward.

Kathy:  I figured out a way to keep track of visiting teaching!

Ty:  Hop on Pop
Michelle's Note: Today, the pilot training class Ty's been working with for the last 5-6 months officially moved on to the next phase of their training. A handful of students received awards for their performance, and Ty was presented an award for being voted their "favorite instructor pilot." I'm very proud of him. He's a great instructor and I'm glad his students recognize and appreciate that in him.

Michelle:  I completed all of vacation recovery in one day!  FIRST TIME EVER!

Afton:  Today I went to Miss Carli's house to borrow some celery all by myself.  I also decided to fill up everyone's water glass for dinner and did it all by myself.

Eliza:  I am very polite and always say "No fank you."  Dad told me to make my cutest face and Afton coached me.

Kathyn:  I am just always happy!

Josh:  Taco salad is the only thing that keeps me sane when I'm eating healthy.

Elizabeth:  I'm feeling overwhelmed (in a good way) with all the baby stuff we got over the weekend and wondering how I'm going to organize it all!

Jayna:  After a long day at work, we went and got some ice cream from Cold Stone.

Dallin:  Yum!
