Here We Go Again--The A Date

Dad got a new car this week . . . at least it is new to him!
It's a 2001 Lexus.  We were looking for a car with all-wheel drive--and this is what we found!

Josh and Elizabeth are checking it out!

Dad and I made our way through the alphabet with our dates.
We had so much fun we decided to do it again!
So we had our A date this week.  Dad was in charge.

He enlisted Josh and Elizabeth's help and we did an "Amazing Race."
Josh and Elizabeth gave us five envelopes.
Each envelope contained a clue as to where we should go.

First, we went to the mall and had "appetizers" at "Auntie Anne's."

Then we went to "Applebees" for dinner.

Then we were guided to an "activity."
We went to a high priest social at the Cho's home.

Then we were told to go to "Albertsons" to get a treat.
We bought "Andes" mints!

Then we were told to go back home to watch a movie while eating our treats.
We watched Captain "America" . . . . for 15 minutes.
Then we fell "asleep!"

Thanks, Josh and Elizabeth for helping us have an "amazing" date!

On Saturday, Elizabeth and I followed the pattern set by the boys for the Priesthood session of conference.  We went to the General Women's Meeting at the church.  We weren't the first ones to leave the building.  But we got burgers, fries, and custard on the way home and watched Pillow Talk while eating our dinner.

Dallin's PIctures

Here are some pictures of Dallin's last week at the
Mexico Missionary Training Center.
If he made a comment about the picture, I included it.

Me and Elder Smith's nightly tradition of writing in our journals with cookies.

Some pictures with our district.

Me with Hermano Ortiz, my teacher.

We had to do pushups for every time we spoke English.

Our branch presidency--we're missing Presidente Campos who was the actual president.

Our slide show on Sunday for all the missionaries leaving.

Farewell to Saturns and Sodas

For Family Home Evening we went on a new hike--
Upper Reservoir Lake in Palmer Lake.

Lower Reservoir.

Lower Reservoir.

Upper Resevoir.
We ate our dinner up here.  It was so peaceful and quiet.

On Thursday Elizabeth made us pizza on the grill for dinner.
It was so delicious!

After 14 years, we said goodbye to the Saturn.
Dad sold it on Craigslist.  Sniff, sniff.

We reminisced about the day we bought it.
It was a Saturday.  Jayna was six.  The van was in the driveway.  And the Mazda was in the garage.  Jayna got into the Mazda by herself and accidently made it start moving backwards.  It scared her and she opened the door to get out.  She didn't make it out (thank goodness!), but the car kept going.  The open door of the Mazda hit the van and was pushed backwards to the point we couldn't shut the door anymore.  Jayna felt bad and told Dad she would pay for it.  The older kids thought Jayna was going to get in big trouble.  But she ended up being a hero in their eyes when Dad left with the Mazda (with the door roped shut) and returned with a brand new car--the Saturn!

So I took a challenge from Laura not to drink soda for a year starting on Sunday.
So Saturday night I decided to have one last rootbeer.
I'm not sure how I feel about it.

I think I'm sad.

No, I don't know if I'll be able to do it--so I'm scared . . .

. . . or maybe anxious.

No, I really want to drink it.  So I'm angry.

But after thinking about it, I'm really happy!

PS.  Do you like my new glasses?

A Day in the Life

A Day in the Life of the Pages
Sunday, September 14th, 2014

Dad:  The Young Women put blue balloons all over my door with kind messages in them.  Getting them all down and popping them turned my fingertips blue!

Mom:  I got to make dinner for four people tonight instead of two!
Woot, woot!

Ty: Me and my assistant chef getting ready to make Rice Krispy Treats.

Michelle: The time of day we’ve ALL been looking forward to today.
When you’re the camera lady, you usually forget to get a picture of yourself.
Maybe next month.

Afton: We got to play at a cool park this afternoon.

Eliza:  I love slides.

Josh: Mom made Sunday dinner, so we are doing the dishes.

Elizabeth:  Reading LDS Living and enjoying my Sunday chocolate.

Jayna:  I went to church in my new ward and got called as Relief Society President!

Dallin:  I'm with two of my district leaders that just left.  They are awesome!

Two Weeks Overdue

I haven't posted anything for two weeks--so here you go!

The bishopric were challenged by MJ Melton to do the ice bucket challenge.
So on Sunday, August 31st, Dad and his counselors gathered in our back yard and did it!  This is what they looked like when they were done.  Then Dad challenged our new Elders Quorum Presidency, Brother Call challenged our new Sunday School Presidency, and Brother Mitchell challenged our Deacons Quorum Presidency.

On Thursday, September 4th, Dad and I went to the Cherry Hills Country Club in Denver to watch the Pro Golf FedEx Cup Playoffs.  It was a lot of fun!  It made me want to take up golfing!

Dad with his ticket to get in and which authorized us to get free food!

That is me below the second "the."

On the 15th hole watching Phil Mickelson.

When Jayna got back from Mississippi, she decided to make a quilt with all her t-shirts.  She basically worked on it for only three days!

And look how great it turned out!!!

Look who got here Tuesday night, September 9th!!!
We're so excited for Josh and Elizabeth to be living in Colorado Springs for the next year!

And we were very sad to see Jayna leave on Thursday to go back to Idaho.

We named Saturday our "DeDallification Day."  We cleaned the house, we cleaned cars, moved furniture around, and got rid of a lot of things.  Thanks to some tutoring from Elizabeth, I became a craigslist pro.  I listed and sold some things all in the same day!

Here is Josh and Elizabeth moving the entertainment center from the basement to the garage . . . where it is still sitting.  Any buyers?
