Christmas Chaos!

I didn't take a lot of pictures this week--we were all so busy trying to get things done!  Dad and I were talking--this was probably one of the most difficult and stressful weeks we've had all year!

Thank goodness, during all of the hustle and bustle, we have moments to reflect on our Savior and the influence of his Birth, Life, Atonement, and Resurrection in our lives.  He is the "why" of everything we do--including all the wonderful things in December.  And remembering Him always brings a calm spirit.

Josh got this picture of me painting the bottom of our kitchen cabinets.  Since we couldn't stain the bottoms, I matched some paint and painted them--it turned out great!

Later in the week we went to Brandon Goss's home.  He built all new doors for us.  Josh has been helping him and learning a lot!  Josh, Elizabeth, and I went there to help put on the third coat of stain.

Brandon built this cool drying rack so we could stain both sides of the doors at the same time.

Friday night we had our Ward Christmas party.  I put together a group of talented people who acted out and sang "God Bless Your Way."  They did a fabulous job!

Ryan and Sandie Porter, Annette and Ralph Mangan, Gretchen Melton with baby Jo Jo, and Joyana Jensen

Eleven more glorious days until Christmas!

Share the Gift

During the chaos of Christmas is the best time to tear apart your kitchen and stain your cabinets, right?!

After days of agonizing over whether to use water-based or oil-based stain on our cabinets, I finally decided on the water based . . . and it's time to start!  I'm a little nervous!

First coat of the top cabinets done.  I think I like it!

Marilyn, Elizabeth's mom, got to come and visit us this week!
On Friday we went on a hike at Garden of the Gods.  It was beautiful!  Then we enjoyed a yummy breakfast at The Omelet Parlor.

Friday evening Dad and I had his Challenger Homes work party.

On Saturday we said goodbye to Gus the truck.  He has been dearly loved . . . and he will be dearly missed.

Friday and Saturday nights our church held the Creche and live nativity.  Dad conducted the last session of the live nativity on Saturday night.

Dallin, Thomas and Sister Fife wanted to say hi!

Christmas is a wonderful time of year.  To help us remember the true meaning of Christmas, our church has started a worldwide campaign entitled "He is the Gift."  This campaign will help us to Discover the Gift, Embrace the Gift, and Share the Gift.
